Introducing a new installable version of Shu, and exciting changes across the range.

We are proud to announce a new, installable version of Shu — our latest addition to the Shu product range that enables you, the developer, to further extend the power of your AIR applications.

Our new Shu offers you all the powerful Shu commands you are used to, but now enables you to distribute your application to your users in an easy, simple-to-use installable format. With installation comes a start-up speed boost for your application, as well as a reduced footprint on your users' harddrive.

Furthermore, redistributing your application becomes far more simple. You can now obtain the standard AIR redistribution agreement from Adobe to redistribute your output application.

You now develop your AIR file, package with the Shu Packager and the output is a neat installer that when run, installs AIR (if not present on the end-user's machine) and then installs your AIR application.

  • No more needing to create 'badged' installs.
  • No more needing to create complex system specific installers.
  • Use the AIR install model without the hard work.
  • Get the functionality you need.

This new release fleshes out the Shu product range, so in conjunction with the release we have updated the whole range to reflect the diversity of features offered by the different products. The original Shu now becomes Shu SA (for Standalone), and Shu Lite becomes Shu SA Lite. Our new, installable version is known simply as Shu.

So for powerful, standalone AIR applications, choose Shu SA. If you don't need the extra commands, choose Shu SA Lite. If you want powerful commands and the benefits of an installed application, choose Shu.

And don't forget, if you choose one version and in the future find your requirements change, you can always switch to a version that meets your new demands. With our new range we've got all your bases covered.
